Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) was established on 27 November 1971 to operate in all Abu Dhabi areas of oil and gas industry. The Supreme Petroleum Council (SPC) supervises the affairs of ADNOC and is responsible for formulating Abu Dhabi’s Petroleum policy and overseeing the operations of the Emirate’s oil, gas and related industries.
Today, the Company manages and oversees oil production of more than two million barrels of oil a day, which ranks it among the top ten oil and gas companies in the world. Since its establishment, ADNOC has steadily broadened its activities through its subsidiaries, creating an integrated oil and gas industry in Abu Dhabi.
ADNOC and its group of companies comprise 16 companies, three of them operate in exploration and production of oil and gas, five companies provide support services to the oil and gas industry, three are oil and gas processing joint ventures, two are chemical and petrochemical companies, two are involved in maritime transport for crude oil, refined products and natural gas, and one is a refined products distribution company.
Due to the wise and balanced policy of the petroleum industry as directed by His Highness President, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan and guided by His Highness, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Chairman of the Supreme Petroleum Council, the United Arab Emirates has been able to contribute to the stability of oil markets which helps in the growth of world economy.
